As the days draw in around Eridge, it’s lovely to have a welcoming local to look forward to: somewhere for a relaxed meal, a favourite drink and a good catch-up. Tucked away off the beaten track between Royal Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough, The Huntsman is a traditional country pub with plenty to bring people together through late autumn and winter.

There’s hearty pub food made with locally sourced ingredients from Kent and Sussex, weekly nights to plan around, and a Sunday roast served every week. Families and dogs are welcome, and when the weather is kind, the large beer garden offers a chance to enjoy the outdoors too.

And with Christmas 2026 bookings open, now is a good time to get those festive get-togethers in the diary.

Hearty food and a well-stocked bar

A winter visit should feel unhurried. At The Huntsman, the menu focuses on traditional pub food, using locally sourced ingredients from Kent and Sussex. It’s refreshed daily, making the most of the fresh ingredients available to the kitchen.

Whether you’re meeting friends for a meal or settling in after a day out, you’ll find a friendly country-pub setting and a varied drinks range. Choose from quality beers, fine wines, spirits and soft drinks.

You can find more about the pub’s food and drink online. As the menu changes daily, it’s worth calling ahead if you have a particular question about what’s being served. The team is happy to accommodate special dietary requirements where possible.

Two midweek nights worth putting in the diary

A regular night out is an easy way to make the darker evenings feel brighter. The Huntsman has two weekly events that give you a good reason to gather friends or family and head out for supper.

Pizza & Pint Night is on every Monday from 4pm to 8pm, at £15 per person. Then on Wednesdays, Burger & Beer Night runs from 6pm to 9pm, at £18 per person.

Both are a relaxed way to break up the week, whether it’s a spontaneous meal out or something you plan ahead with friends. The pub is a small country pub, so booking is a sensible idea, especially if you’re coming as a group.

Make Sunday a roast day

There’s something satisfying about making Sunday lunch the main event of the day. The Huntsman serves its Sunday Roast every Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, making it a good choice for a family meal, a get-together with friends or a treat after a weekend walk.

Prefer to take lunch home? Sunday takeaways are available from 12pm to 4pm too. It’s a handy option for anyone who wants a proper Sunday meal without cooking.

You can check the Sunday sample menu for an idea of the offering, but menus may change. Booking ahead is recommended, particularly if you have a larger party.

A country pub with outdoor space

The Huntsman’s large beer garden adds another reason to make it a regular stop. On a crisp, bright afternoon, it’s a lovely place to enjoy a drink or spend a little time outside. When the weather turns, you can head indoors and enjoy the warm welcome of a traditional country pub instead.

It’s also a family-friendly and dog-friendly pub, making it easier to bring everyone along. Whether you’re meeting up for a casual drink or planning a meal, the setting suits a range of occasions.

Make Christmas plans early

Christmas can creep up quickly, and tables at a small country pub are worth booking ahead. For Christmas 2026, The Huntsman is offering a Christmas Festive Menu, a Christmas Day menu and a Boxing Day menu, alongside a wreath-making event.

The festive menu features two courses for £30 or three courses for £37, with dishes like pancetta-wrapped Norfolk Bronze turkey with chestnut and sausage meat stuffing, red wine braised Sussex beef, and Christmas pudding with vanilla bean custard and brandy butter. There's even 10% off for parties of six or more throughout November, Tuesday to Thursday. You can view the full Christmas Festive Menu, Christmas Day menu and Boxing Day menu online.

There’s also a Wreath Making Workshop on Wednesday 2 December, with sessions at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are £50 and include fizz and mince pies. If you’re planning to eat beforehand, the pub says workshop guests receive 10% off their bill. Find details on the wreath-making page.
